I'm looking for a replacement alternator for my 2001 mitsubishi diamante but the only ones that I've been able to find are from a 2000 diamante and a 2002 diamante. Trying to figure out if I can use one of these on my car without damaging my vehicle. The 2000 and 2002 models have the same engine specifications as my 2001 model.

The 2001 Mitsubishi Diamante lures you in with some great features, but it has no problem breaking your heart. It has an attractive exterior, a powerful engine, and an impressive list of features that make you think of it as a luxury vehicle.
When you take it for a test drive and you wonder why anyone would ruin an otherwise nice car with such a terrible transmission. Overall, the driving experience makes the 2001 Diamante undesirable. Unfortunately, that matters most.
The 2001 Diamante has features suggesting that it almost wanted to become a luxury vehicle, but then it lost motivation at the last minute. Still, it has some impressive features that make it appealing. The ES features comfortable cloth upholstery, an AM/FM stereo, and a CD-player that sounds quite nice. Opt for the LS and you get considerably more features, such as leather seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support, wood grain accents, and a HomeLink transmitter. The stereo in the LS has a dedicated amplifier that improves its sound quality. It also has audio controls on the steering wheel.

Of course, occupants find some things to dislike about the 2001 Mitsubishi Diamante's interior. The rear seats, for instance, don't fold down to offer extra cargo space. It also lacks a cargo-area pass-through that most sedans of this class have. Discerning drivers also scrutinize Mitsubishi’s choice of construction materials. The designers could have at least tried to make the accents look like real wood in the ES. Instead, it comes across as a rather ridiculous imitation.

It features chrome trim on the grille and window moldings. Its alloy wheels give it a fun demeanor without making it look childish. The true test of the Diamante, however, lies inside the car. Don't spend too much time worrying about whether you like the exterior before you step inside and take it for a drive. The 2001 Mitsubishi Diamante is offered in ES and LS trims with a solid 205 horsepower 3.5-liter V6 and a 4-speed automatic transmission with Adapt Shift capabilities. The Diamante is a four-door Sedan featuring seating for up to five passengers and a solid list of luxury equipment, including auto climate control, cruise, keyless entry, power controls, AM/FM/CD, an adjustable steering wheel and intermittent wipers. Safety equipment includes driver and passenger-side airbags, ABS brakes, auto off headlights and child safety rear door locks. Before you get too excited about the 2001 Mitsubishi Diamante's power and electronic transmission, take this car for a test drive. Most find that the transmission ruins the experience. In an attempt to create an excellent adaptive control management system for the transmission, Mitsubishi has fallen far short of its goal. Put simply, it does not shift as well as an automatic should. To be blunt—it turns an excellent powertrain into a miserable drive.
