I have a 2004 chevy 2500 HD that keeps giving 2 codes P0342 and P0343 I replaced the camshaft position sensor and it ran fine for a day now as it sat in idle for approx 30 minutes, the engine revved up and the check engine light appeared only for a brief moment and went off. Any clue what this could be ?

  • Equipped with a standard 6.0-liter V8, the 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD comes available in Base, LS and LT trim levels. If you’re interested in additional hauling power, you can opt for a gas-powered 8.1-liter V8 or a diesel-powered Duramax turbo V-8. A five-speed manual transmission comes standard, with four and five-speed automatics or a six-speed manual as options. Buyers can also choose between five different wheel bases and three different body styles, including Regular Cab, Extended Cab or Crew Cab, with Fleetside cargo beds available in long or short lengths.

  • SOLVED: Took the truck to a local transmission shop and it was diagnosed with a bad speed sensor plug and bad wiring... was $150 fix, $70 of which was labor... she drives and shifts like it should now! Hope this helps others

I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with the 6.0L, 4wd, 4L80E transmission and only 156,000 miles. Recently (after a Jiffy Lube transmission flush and filter change) started acting like you see in the video. The transmission will shift based on where the speedometer is. So if the speedometer hits 0 or close to it, the transmission will down shift to where the computer thinks the rpm's should be. The transmission shifts hard and no where near normal. I replaced the speed sensor before taking this video (which goes into the transfer case) with no effect :(

Also wanted to note, that I took the cluster out, thinking it might be cluster related... problem was still present driving around without the cluster installed...

PLEASE help me if you know what's going on....
