  • The Pinto Panel Wagon was introduced in 1976 and was offered in both commercial and "factory customized" Cruising Wagon versions, featuring round port-hole rear side windows. The Courier name, previously used for Ford sedan delivery vans, had been dropped and applied to foreign pickup trucks.

I have a 38 Ford Standard Sedan Delivery and the grille on this one is correct for the standard. I am amazed he has all of the stainless steel trim for the grille as they are very hard to find. From what I know these were a very low production vehicle.

A full 70 years after its introduction, the 1940 Ford is still considered one of the best styling jobs ever to come from Detroit. Ford light trucks were given the same features as they adopted car styling for the first time in almost a decade. The 1940 half-ton pickup trucks employed the look of the Standard series cars for the first time since 1932, the Standard’s V-shaped front grille and pointed hood, rounded front fenders and attractive teardrop headlights giving the pickup trucks the same modern appearance. They also shared the choice of two flathead V-8 engines: a 136/60 HP economy unit and a 221/85 HP one. The more business-oriented sedan delivery Fords borrowed the features of the more stylish Deluxe models, most notably the more intricate Deluxe front grille and plusher interior appointments. A larger cargo section also gave the new Sedan Delivery more utility than previous models, making it a true workhorse. The sedan delivery’s wide-ranging utility meant that most were eventually simply used up and thrown away, making surviving examples such as this exceptionally rare, especially as it retains all-Ford steel, an important factor in evaluating these great vintage Fords. Finished in Mandarin Maroon with a Tan interior, this unique Sedan Delivery runs under the power of the big 221/85 HP flathead V-8 and column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission. Formerly owned by the same family in North Dakota for over 30 years prior to landing in the Richard Munz Collection of outstanding Early V-8 Fords, the car was subsequently acquired by Rick Baker and has been part of his Ford Collection since. This steel-bodied Forty Ford Sedan Delivery has been very well maintained and remains a rare and excellent example that will draw a crowd of admirers with every outing.
