  • Have you ever seen lifted Toyota 4Runners? I have, and it’s an astonishing sight. Personally, I’m not a big fan of lifting – the process, I mean. I only admire from a far 🙂

Back in the day, when I was working at my uncle’s dealership, I knew some dudes who practiced lifting on a daily basis, and I remember something from that time as well. About 4 month ago Chris invited me to his home (his home garage, to be exact), and showed me some very impressive work he had done with his car. The goal was to lift Toyota 4Runner a serious bit, and he persuaded me to stay and help him out (handing him screwdrivers, pliers, cold water – that kind of stuff). His wife and kids were out shopping in the mall, and we spend about 5 hours talking, messing around and taking care of business. We were both very happy with our final result, and so I’ve decided to share our experience with you guys. This is how we lifted 4Runner:

  • True, this made the experiment a bit risky, but we were pretty confident in ourselves, so, we decided to proceed. We took an evolutionary approach with this job, moving up and adding stuff on the way. We began with an Icon Vehicles Dynamic package with 2” lift coils and 2” diameter shocks in the back and 2.5” remote reservoir extended-travel coilovers in the front. Before going with Icon we looked at other options as well, including offers from Toytec, Bilsteins 5100s, Old Man Emu, etc. They were all perfectly fine and could – without a doubt – lift Toyota 4Runner; plus, they were cheaper than Icon, but we still decided not to go cheap.
