  • The elbow is a synovial hinge joint located between the upper arm and forearm. It is formed by the meeting of three bones: the humerus in the upper arm and the ulna and radius in the lower arm. Like all other hinge joints, the elbow permits movement in one plane, namely the flexion and extension of the forearm relative to the upper arm. However, the elbow also allows the wrist to rotate by pivoting the radius around the ulna. The muscles of the elbow cooperate to perform the many movements at the elbow joint, giving both great strength and flexibility to the arm.

    Kenny Brown's S197 Mustang upper and lower arms in place on a vehicle - note that there are no holes in the bracketry, as Brown has found that his customers prefer to be able to bolt in their parts and go.

  • In the Mopar realm, the 2005-14 Chrysler 300C, Dodge Charger/Challenger/Magnum all use the same type of independent rear suspension – three links on each side, with a pair of trailing arms and quartet of upper lateral control arms (front and rear on each side).

    The design was only used for one year (1958). The following year (1959), the Impala went to an upper trailing arm for adjusting the pinion angle and then used a panhard rod for controlling the lateral location of the rear end. Technically the 1958 upper arm had better lateral control but terrible pinion angle control.

    Adjustable Upper Trailing Arms

    These adjustable upper trailing arms are available as a direct replacement of the OEM pressed style arms, allowing for easy adjustment on pinion angle and pre-load. Made of 25.4 mm x 3.9 mm tube with urethane bushed ends. When carrying out a diff conversion bracketry has to be installed onto the diff, McDonald Bros Racing now offer adjustable arms for the Holden range of vehicles that are bushed both ends with diff bracketry and hardware to suit.
