  • The WESTAR Mount Torque Struts And Mounts contains no remanufactured components, and is designed to operate in either city or highway driving.

the westar one didnt have a groove for the cable to bolt on to to that may account for some of the rattling. the rumbling however may be because the bracket on the westar mount was super big, way bigger than the oem mount's bracket so im thinking that the rumbling is because of that. tomorrow i will put the oem bracket on the westar mount and bolt the shift cable to it and see if that solves my problems.

    *UPDATE*
today i jacked it up myself and dropped the exhaust and heat shield to take a look at it. the oem mount had a bracket on it that my shift cable bolted on to.

The bad is that the rubber compound used in the mount does not maintain its pliancy over the same broad temperature range as the OEM mount. Above about 40 degrees, the Westar works well. From 40 to about 30 degrees, you start to feel vibration. Below 30 degrees, it gets rougher and noisier. Below 10 degrees, you're using a cinder block for your motor mount.

Even on a cold day, engine heat does eventually soften the rubber and quell the vibration, after about 30 minutes.

So, if you're in a Northern climate, your car will vibrate a lot when it's cold. If you're in a Southern climate, you'll likely never have a problem.

I have no idea of longevity compared to OEM. I can tell you that when I switched to OEM the temperature issues went away.
